Rectory Lane Cemetery Project

Rectory Lane Cemetery Project A uniquely inspiring space for the arts

The Rectory Lane Cemetery Project is a lottery-funded community initiative to transform a formerly neglected dead space in the centre of Berkhamsted into a thriving and vibrant heritage asset for the community.

Kate Campbell is the Community Engagement Officer for the project. Our programme of activities and events aims to bring the stories of those buried there to life - through theatre, storytelling, photography, art, creative writing, music and historical costume tours. We host many different creative groups and events and welcome further collaboration with artists and performers.

We can offer an unusual, beautiful and natural three-acre site just off Berkhamsted High Street, within easy reach of the public. We can pitch gazebos and marquees in areas without memorials and our landscaping programme will see new accessible paths, beautiful seating and a performance area - all due to be completed by June 2020.
