RedBall UK is looking for 2 creative/artistic practitioners

RedBall UK is coming to Torbay this June

The RedBall UK education Project is looking for 2 creative/artistic practitioners who can assist in the delivery of the project in the Bay.

The project has two strands:

Strand one: a tour of Kurt Perschke’s RedBall which begins in Torbay 2nd -5th June and then travels to Plymouth, Exeter, Weymouth and London’s South Bank.

Stand two: Taking the tour of the Redball as its inspiration RedBall Education will visit 6 primary schools in the Bay and run 2 day workshops with year 6 children as they prepare to make the move to secondary school.

About the workshops

The project aims to raise the aspirations and achievements of children and young people by focusing on the child as an encourager.

We believe this is ground breaking. Why? Because, we all know that with the right encouragement children can achieve more than they think possible and through this project the children act as ‘encouragers’ or young coaches in ways that coaches encourage people in sport or business for example.

The project covers four elements – choice, passion, vision and action. It encourages children to find their “red rubber ball” - a metaphor for our passions; the things that interest and excite each of us, whether it be sport, music, art, business, fashion, animals, journalism ……
It then encourages children to think about their aspirations and learn simple goal setting and action planning, identifying the step they’ll take next towards one of their goals.

The children take away with them:
• A “magic box” which they will have used to identify their passions
• A vision board, setting out their hopes and aspirations
• An action plan showing what they intend to do next.

In addition, children may (if they have permission) contribute a short message onto a video wall containing clips from young people and adults around the UK stating one of their aspirations and the action they intend to take next.

You will:

• Have a story to tell about your own career: one which may inspire the young people
• Have some experience of working with young people in a school environment
• Have a CRB certificate
• Have a creative/arty skill/talent which you can use as part of the workshops -which will encourage the children to identify and talk about their passions and aspirations
• Be free for a training day on Friday 1st June 2012
• Be available on Monday/Tuesdays or and Thursday/Fridays throughout June/early July 2012.

The role(s) will be paid at £200 per day.

There will be a payment of £150 paid for attendance at the training event.

To apply for one of these roles please send in a copy of your CV with a covering letter expressing why you feel you would be suitable for the position.
