In conversation with Amelia Gentleman

In conversation with Amelia Gentleman

Windrush Day has been marked on the 22nd June since 2018.

This year, the School of Human and Health Sciences (University of Huddersfield) would like to invite you to a free webinar that we are hosting to mark the day (please note that this webinar will take place on 24th June).

Our School Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Dr Berenice Golding, will be In Conversation with award winning journalist and author Amelia Gentleman.

This webinar is an opportunity to hear Amelia talk about her book The Windrush Betrayal: Exposing the Hostile Environment which was originally published in hardback in 2019 following her investigation into the government’s ‘Hostile Environment’ immigration policy. The book documents the full story of her investigation into how “thousands of British citizens were wrongly classified as illegal immigrants, with life-shattering consequences”. The paperback version, published in 2020, has a detailed new postscript that brings things up to date.
