The design of the Grinnall Scorpion Sportscar Range

The design of the Grinnall Scorpion Sportscar Range

The revolutionary BMW motorcycle powered 3 wheeler was designed produced in just over 12 months during 1991/92. From the sketches a full-size clay model was produced, then mastered, tooled and launched to rave reviews.
So far over 300 Scorpion's have been sold throughout the world to customers who appreciate the cars unique looks and its high performance capability.

From the very first sketches at the end of 1995, the Scorpion ‘4’ was a natural addition to the product range, considering the success of the Scorpion ‘3’.
But the demand for the ‘3’ left little time to develop the new car. So it wasn’t until November 1999, that the first model was built.
Developing from the ‘3’, the cockpit area was enlarged, but the overall theme was maintained.
The chassis was based upon a Fiat Turbo 2 litre powertrain, and by September 2000, the car was completed. The first completed car was launched by the actress Joanna Lumley, at the Birmingham Motor Show in October 2000.
Fiat was unable failed to supply the engines, and so later the car was redeveloped, using an Audi TT powertrain, which resulted in a re-engineering and considerable delay in production of the car.
