Sheryl Hill is a South-East based freelance director and the Artistic Director of Ships in the Night.

She trained on the MA in Theatre Directing programme at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and previously ran Lemon and Lime Theatre, an interactive children's theatre company.

From January to March 2016, she will be training on the Puppetry Foundation course at the Little Angel Theatre.

With Ships in the Night, she is currently developing Gretel and Hansel by Sam Leeves, an inclusive multi-sensory adaptation of the Brothers Grimm tale, aimed at all children aged seven to eleven and their families. A research and development period has taken place throughout April 2015, supported by Arts Council England, The Capitol Theatre, The College of Richard Collyer and Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee school.

Other directing credits include Night Call by Nick Cheesman (Southwark Playhouse), Gleam by Aren Devlin (Soho Theatre/Pleasance Theatre), Jachman and Hank by Nicholas March (Theatre 503), Night Vision by S.L. Daniels (Bread and Roses Theatre), Missing by Barney Norris (Cockpit Theatre), Vincent River by Philip Ridley (Karamel Club), The Owl and the Pussycat by Edward Lear (Arundel Theatre Festival) and Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare (Arundel Theatre Festival). She has assistant directed at venues including Rose Theatre Kingston, The Watermill Theatre and on 'Peter Pan' at Richmond Theatre, starring Henry Winkler.

Sheryl has a keen interest in creative learning, a specialism which she developed as the Creative Learning Officer for The Student Workshop, a society based in the drama department at Royal Holloway, University of London. Whilst in this role she curated a programme of workshops, community outreach projects, theatre-in-education initiatives and talks with industry professionals including a debate exploring theatre criticism with panelists including Lyn Gardner (The Guardian) and Mark Shenton (The Stage).
