Oral Historian

A fantastic freelance opportunity to work with the archive of a renowned artist and on a unique heritage project for north Devon. The Oral Historian will lead our established Oral History programme, support a team of skilled and enthusiastic volunteers, and develop an internationally significant record of rural life.

Beaford Arts has secured funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to deliver Hidden Histories - a major conservation, digitisation and oral history project that will curate and publish online around 10,000 unseen images and 80 recorded interviews that together illustrate the late 20th Century social history of rural north Devon.

A fee of £15,000 is available over 14 months. This is a freelance position but will require one day per week of office based working at the Beaford Arts offices (South Molton).
