Family block printing workshop

Family block printing workshop

6 Apr 2022 at 2:00pm
£10 per child
The artist Anna Ray uses simple block printing techniques in the creation of some of her artworks, and this is visible in her new off-the-wall piece Mesh. In this workshop we will make stamps of different shapes to block print directly onto cloth. To begin with we will draw and cut out simple shapes on sticky-backed foam. These will then be fixed to pre-cut pieces of foam board, so that you each have your own set of unique printing blocks. Using acrylic paint and brushes of different sizes you can then begin printing wonderful patterns onto the surface of the cotton fabric provided.

During the workshop you will have time to visit the Fibre and Form exhibition with Anna when you have the opportunity to ask questions about her work.

You will need to wear an apron or clothing suitable for a painting workshop.

This event will take place in the Assembly Room of St Albans Museum + Gallery which is wheelchair accessible. Please get in touch at museum@stalbans.gov.uk to let us know about any access needs. This workshop is suitable for children from age 7 upwards accompanied by an adult.
