2018 Huddersfield Saint Patrick's Day Parade

2018 Huddersfield Saint Patrick's Day Parade

Be Healthy, Be Active, Be Happy! That’s the cry from organisers as they embark upon the 18th Huddersfield Saint Patrick's Day Parade

The family festival of fun rolls into town once more, on March 11th at 1pm, and all are invited to keep the party pumping.

Supported by The Government of Ireland and The Cuckoo’s Nest, Marsden, the procession will feature an array of Irish acts and local talent, many of whom will work in unison to showcase their splendours.

Sandwiched between The Liverpool Irish Flute band and Marsden Brass band is a line up jam-packed with entertainment that includes Mna na hEireann and All Saints Catholic College showing a number of ways to stay healthy, The Cassidy School of Irish Dancing encouraging you to be active and Terry the Terrier hijacking a float dedicated to Huddersfield Town in The Premier League - adding an extra shot of happiness to the occasion.

Other artistes include: Vital Statistix Rock covers band, The Memphis Cruisers, Celtic Duo, Ballyhoo, Silver Stars Majorettes and The Huddersfield Giants Cheerleaders.

They will be backed up by Brothers Pearse GAA, The Huddersfield Irish Centre, St Patrick’s Club, compere and disco, St Patrick’s School, Huddersfield University, Hands off HRI, and Saint Patrick leading his followers, including The Turfman, Molly Malone and the leprechauns, to the shindig.

Indeed there is no time to draw breath when the floats weave their way into Saint George's Square to meet the Town Crier, because while the musical mayhem meanders to a stop, supporters can browse their souvenir booklet and pause for the start of the show. Revellers will then be free to get active when Giants Causeway kick things off, the zany Frumptarn Guggenband keep it hopping and Keep it Country will draw you in for a waltz and a quick-step.

And while you’re lapping up the delights, why not savour a first for our town: The Gaelic Football skills display at the square, presented by Brothers Pearse’s under age footballers, as the club celebrates forty years of youth GAA football in the town.

The ninety minute procession will then bid a fond farewell to supporters when it trundles out of town back to the post parade party.

So come along, be healthy and active as you polish those dancing shoes and go for a jig around the town centre. But most importantly of all, leave with a smile on your face as we give you several reasons to be happy at the Huddersfield Saint Patrick's day Parade.
