'Tis Pity She's A Whore

'Tis Pity She's A Whore

Rich, beautiful Annabella has her choice of suitors. But her heart lies closer to home with her scholarly brother Giovanni. Their love is forbidden but true, and they must keep it secret in a brutal, unforgiving world.

John Ford's classic tragedy tackles the themes of lust and fate in a world ruled by loyalty and divinity. It explores the darker side of humanity with characters that show depth and realism. Set in the mid 1600s with Jacobean dress, this is a production of illicit passion and bitter retribution.

The Barefoot Players are a Sussex-based company. Their projects include vibrant renditions of classic plays, new writing and devised theatre, all brought to life with music, flamboyant costumes and their trademark energetic physicality.

They've performed in the Brighton Fringe Festival for the past three years, most recently in 2013 with George Bernard Shaw's 'Pygmalion' at the Marlborough Theatre. They are also regulars at the Lindfield Arts Festival, performing original works as well as old classics. Previous work at The Nightingale Theatre includes a sell-out production of Christopher Marlowe's 'Doctor Faustus', and productions of William Shakespeare's 'A Winter's Tale' and 'Julius Caesar'. 'Tis Pity She's A Whore is directed by James Davies for The Barefoot Players,
