The Choral Engineers are a creative community choir led by local composers Hugh Nankivell and Steve Sowden. They meet every Friday morning, between 10:30-12:30 at Paignton Library to sing new songs, chat, improvise, move, play and make new theatre together. The choir is an open offer for anyone who is curious to get involved with a unique all-ages singing group, a fun creative process and some exciting theatrical performances. All ages, abilities and musical backgrounds are most welcome.

Following on from the making and performances of The Heaviside Condition earlier this year (a quirky cycle of original songs about an eccentric Victorian mathematician) and June's unique audio/video collaboration with the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Choral Engineers, a creative and experimental community choir based in Paignton, have embarked on a strange new journey over this Autumn term.

On Saturday 5th of December at the beautiful Parish Church in Kingskerswell, they will be joined by Trio of Men (Hugh Nankivell, Steve Sowden & Ben Ballard) and will perform new songs inspired by the imminent opening of the South Devon Highway. Working in collaboration with players from the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and road-builders Galliford Try, the choir will present an original, unique and unrepeatable take on the subject of roads and road building.

In the true spirit of Choral Engineering, audiences can expect asymmetric rhythms, quirky lyrics, overhead projections, animal spirits, engineering terminology and maybe a few red herrings.
