Artist’s Light Touch Sets His Pictures Apart

Artist’s Light Touch Sets His Pictures Apart

David Cowell, a prominent UK digital painter, returns to The Gallery at Torbay Hospital on Friday February 27 for a show of his unique digital paintings.
With a background in more traditional forms of painting and photography, David has for the past 25 years concentrated on developing new technologies to creative ends.
At his studio in Dartington, David works on his computer to create ’one-off’, original digital paintings using a process which he describes as ’painting with light’. To reflect that, his upcoming exhibition is titled “Light Touch”.
David said: “Although my paintings are not topographically accurate, they are based on my observations of lighting conditions and my thoughts at that time.”
He has held many exhibitions of his work locally and has also been accepted in high profile events through submissions. David is a regular contributor to a magazine devoted to using new technologies in a creative way. There are many examples of his paintings in private collections here in the UK and in the USA.
Over the last few years, David has taken part in two mixed exhibitions at Torbay Hospital – once with the Brixham Shoal of Artists and once with his nephew, talented photographer Kevin Cowell.
This will be his first solo exhibition at the hospital and it will showcase pictures not previously seen there.
The exhibition runs daily from the evening of February 27 until Friday April 3.
