Join the talented teenagers of The Purcell School in a characteristically exciting performance, opening with Rossini’s sparkling, light-hearted Overture to The Thieving Magpie, followed by Schumann’s Cello Concerto, considered to be one of the greatest Romantic concertos for the instrument, and Tchaikovsky’s most-loved large scale work, his 5th Symphony.

The Purcell School is one of the UK’s leading specialist music schools, based locally, in Bushey. Alumni include Oliver Knussen CBE; Catrin Finch and BBC Young Musician of the Year winners, Nicholas Daniel, Lara Melda, and Martin James Bartlett. The School holds the UNESCO Mozart Gold Medal in recognition of its unique contribution to music, education and international culture.

Sebastian Kozub - cello
Sebastian Kozub currently studies the cello with Pal Banda at The Purcell School. He has enjoyed success in competition at national and international level. Highlights include First Prize in the second, third and fourth National Competition for Young Cellists in Sochaczew, Poland and First Prize at the XII and XIII International Competition ‘Strings for Europe’. In 2015, he won First Prize in his age category and a prize for best performance of a work by a 20th century composer at the ‘Talents for Europe’ String Competition in Slovakia. Sebastian has performed as a soloist with the Lublin Philharmonic Orchestra and with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Kaunaus, and will play Saint-Saens Cello Concerto No.1 with the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra in September 2017

Graham Ross has established an exceptional reputation as a sought-after composer and conductor of a very broad range of repertoire. As a guest conductor he has worked with Australian Chamber Orchestra, Aalborg Symfoniorkester, Aurora Orchestra and Salomon Orchestra, making his debuts in 2016/17 with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, London Mozart Players, European Union Baroque Orchestra, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and BBC Singers, as well as acting as Assistant Conductor to Vladimir Jurowski. He is co-founder and Principal Conductor of The Dmitri Ensemble, and, since 2010, Fellow and Director of Music at Clare College, Cambridge, where he directs the internationally-renown Choir.
