Guided tours of the museum and carols and poems in the garden
Sunday 16 December: tours 1pm and 2.30pm, carols and poems 2pm FREE
If your shopping is done and you are ready for some pre-Christmas downtime, Tolson Museum in Huddersfield could have the answer on Sunday, 16 December. In addition to guided tours of the museum in Ravensknowle Park on Wakefield Road, there will be Christmas carols and poems in the garden.
The tours, which are free, are at 1pm and 2.30pm and last approximately 45 minutes. Tour guides will reveal more about the fascinating history of the Victorian mansion built in the late 1850s and tell the stories of the people who once lived and worked there.
Places are limited and should be booked on the day at the reception desk of the museum. Regular monthly tours of the museum will resume on Sunday, 17 February 2019.
Starting at 2pm in the Heritage Memorial Garden behind the museum will be ‘Carols and Poems’, organised by the Friends of Tolson and Ravensknowle.
Members of the public are invited to join the Friends for carols, poems, mince pies and mulled wine. There are some seats in the garden but people are asked to bring their own if possible.
This event is free with a collection towards the work of the Friends group. There will be a small charge for the refreshments.
There is free entry to the museum which will be open for visitors from 12noon-4pm.
For further information contact the museum, tel: 01484 223240, or Ann Denham, chair of the Friends, tel: 01484 425708, email: ann.denham3@gmail.com
