A parish clergyman with a concern for social reform, Kingsley was the Regius Professor of Modern History at Cambridge, an enthusiastic amateur biologist and a writer of poems and novels as varied as Westward Ho! and The Water Babies.

Lectures are free of charge to Torquay Museum Society Members. But the general public are also welcome to attend - £5 per ticket, payable on the door
