T.R.A.I.L. is an Artists led organisation exploring the themes of recycling and the environment through an annual gallery exhibition and sculpture trail (with sculptures made from materials destined for landfill sites )in the popular coastal region of Teignbridge and Dawlish in South Devon. Followed up by some of the sculptures being exhibited at venues in Torbay. Artists from many areas of the country participate in this ever growing popular event.

The sculpture trail and exhibition are a successful collaboration between T.R.A.I.L. artists, Teignmouth District Council, Teignmouth Regeneration and generously sponsored by South West Water, Arts and Business and further by local businesses.
make this a totally inclusive event in which everyone could participate.

The Sculpture Trail and gallery exhibition has been extended until Sunday 19th September to coincide with the Tour of Britain Cycle race that finishes in Teignmouth.

TRAIL was 5 years old in 2009 and to celebrate, along with the established sculpture trail, launched a
new initiative, an exciting extravaganza of wearable art/sculpture inspired by TRAIL’s concern for the
environment and climate change.
The event took place to a packed house at The Carlton Theatre in Teignmouth and comprised a catwalk show and collaborative performance pieces.
Judges from the creative industries representing the visual arts, performance, and fashion acted as
adjudicators to award prices for the best catwalk costume and the best collaborative piece.
This years show is on the 13th & 14th November, if you are interested as an artist or model see the details on www.trail.org.uk

End of a Successful TRAIL

TRAIL 2010 has come to an end after thrilling many people with the excellence of the seafront sculptures dotted from Shaldon to Dawlish and the high standard of the internal Gallery exhibition. The event was extended this year so that the display was still available for the arrival of the Tour of Britain to Teignmouth.

At the recent awards evening Amy McCarthy was presented with the South West Water (SWW) Artists Award for her Kaleidoboat along with a cheque. Cathy McGarvey from South West Water praised the sculptor for her craftsmanship and imagination to produce such a colourful entry - see the SWW news item about TRAIL.

Sid the Seagull, a bird with attitude, caught the imagination of the public and swooped off with the Public Choice Award. With their entry Hazeldown School captured the arrogance of gulls which have lost their fear of people and have become a public nuisance turning out rubbish bins and actually believing they have been invited to share your lunch with you.

The Community award was presented by Jenny Harriman, representing last years winning group, who said it is great that TRAIL was totally inclusive and that Community Groups were given the opportunity to showcase their work in public places. The award was shared between Hollacombe Arts for the Vertical Garden and Stepping Out - Art and Crafts - Adult and Community Learning Torquay for their entry The Future so Bright.
TRAIL's next event at the Ariel Centre Gallery , is on 8 - 30th Jan.2011.
