California-born Tony Furtado is a stunning live performer who’s been hailed as a genius on banjo and slide guitar. At 19 he won the prestigious National Banjo Championships in Winfield, Kansas and over the years he has performed and recorded with many folk and bluegrass greats, including Alison Krauss and Jerry Douglas. Tony has toured worldwide since the 1990s, playing his captivating brand of Americana and acoustic roots solo and with his band. In Meltham, he will be joined by accomplished singer-songwriter Stephanie Schneiderman, who will also perform a short opening set. This rare visit to the UK will also be a CD release tour for Tony Furtado's latest recording "Cider House Sessions" also featuring special guest Stephanie Schneiderman.

True North Music is a local music promoter putting on concerts in Huddersfield, Holmfirth and Sheffield areas, specialising in world class bluegrass, Americana and folk artists from the USA, Canada and UK. The Carlile Institute in Meltham is a beautiful Victorian building with an attractive 1st-floor concert room. This community owned venue is the perfect setting for intimate concerts. There is full accessibility with a modern lift as well as the original grand staircase, and a free car park directly behind the venue as well as bus service direct to the door. Doors 7:30pm, concert from 8pm. There will be a licensed bar.

Advance tickets are £10 and are on sale locally in Meltham at the Library and at Café 33. Tickets are also available online at wegottickets.com (note 10% booking fee online). £12 on the door, subject to availability.
