John Illsley & His Band

Founding member and bass guitarist of Dire Straits, John Illsley will be at Watford Colosseum performing songs from his latest album Testing the Water , along with some classic Dire Straits songs, including Sultans of Swing, Money for Nothing and Brothers in Arms.

John Illsley & His Band recently played to an audience of 3000 in the acoustic tent at Glastonbury this summer described by John as “a pleasure and a privilege”.

“Though he was at Glastonbury to promote an album recorded with his new band, Dire Straits bassist John Illsley still found time for a few classics during his Saturday afternoon performance at the Acoustic Stage. Looking every bit like a rock n roll Bill Nighy, Illsley launched into a ferocious rendition of Sultans of Swing. The 65-year-old was out of breath by the end, he was unable to speak – the only giveaway that it was not, in fact, 1978 all over again.
