Batley t'Rainbow Yarn Installation

Batley t'Rainbow Yarn Installation

Batley t’Rainbow is a colourful rainbow yarn bombing installation at Batley Station on the theme of trains, butterflies and flowers.

It has been created in partnership with Friends of Batley Station, with the help of local community and schools. Guided by knitting designer Sandra Nesbitt, members of the public have covered stone pillars, bollards and fencing to create a train, a traffic light design and colourful kaleidoscope patterns. Children from four local Batley schools have created a mosaic of bright rainbow squares from felting, recycling fabrics and weaving.

The work is being installed on International Yarn Bombing Day and the launch of the installation will be animated on 12th June, Worldwide Knit-in-Public Day.
