18 - 25, in Chichester & looking for something different?

The Company, Sussex’s site-specific theatre specialists, are producing Cyrano at the Weald & Downland Open Air Museum, this summer, in association with Chichester Festival Theatre & the Pallant House Art Gallery, & are looking for participants aged 18 to 25 .

Participants will work with a team of professionals, including director Stephen Israel, composer/musician Mike Simmonds, playwright Suzi Hopkins, five actors, & Chichester Festival Theatre’s Youth Leader, Hannah Hogg, at a series of Drama, Music & Script Workshops. The 9 workshops will start with acting skills, before moving into script development & music for the production. They take place on Mondays from 6.30 - 8.30pm at Stephen Pimlott Building, Chichester Festival Theatre, starting on 15 Feb (there was a taster workshop last Monday).

The Company, founded in 2006, specialises in writing & performing plays in, and about, places in Sussex. Venues have included a steam train, a bomb crater, and in the case of the award winning Montfort’s March, a 4 mile stretch across the South Downs! Their production of Rostand’s classic French play, Cyrano, will be based on John Well’s adaptation, that was originally performed in the West End with Robert Lyndsay. This version will be interactive & promenade, taking place around the medieval market place of the Weald & Downland Museum. The script is being developed by playwright Suzi Hopkins, to interact with the outdoor setting, & to create a chorus of local people, to lead the action.

The cost is £3 per workshop for students, unwaged or those on low incomes, and £6 for all you millionaires out there!

Following on from the workshops, rehearsals will take place on Monday evenings in May & June (there will be no charge for the rehearsals or the performances).

Performance dates: 10 - 12 & 17 - 19 June, & 1 - 3 July (inclusive)
