This day course will introduce you to sugarlift and spit-bite aquatint techniques. Sugarlift is a way of making positive marks on an etching plate. Stopping out and etching in stages produces tonal variation. Spit-bite is a way of applying the etching solution, (we will be using copper sulphate solution), directly onto the plate to etch specific areas. This course will be an experimental day, playing with these techniques to build up images, with time for proof printing plates as well.
