Print Workshop - Woodblock and Etching - October

Saturday 12th, Sunday 13th, Saturday 19th October 2019
10am – 4pm

Indulge yourself in this 3 day workshop with experienced printmaker Jo Gorner, learning how to combine the techniques of etching and woodcut. The course will enable you to explore the distinctive qualities of marks and textures within each process and investigate how these can be combined and layered to yield more complex and interesting prints. A hands on and creative workshop which will also allow you to play with the possibilities of multiplate /block printing and the subtleties of materials.

The first day will be focused on creating an etching using a range of basic techniques, primarily hard and soft ground. The second day will be used to make a woodcut using plywood. The wood block will reference the image created the previous day on the etching plate. The final day will be focused on printing, exploring colour and technique to create the final piece.

This course is specifically designed for those who wish to develop new ways of working and experiment with their print practice.
