YSWN welcomes new Coordinator Emma Dick to the team

Yorkshire Sound Women Network is delighted to welcome Emma Dick to the team this month as YSWN’s new Coordinator.

Emma will be working part-time to support YSWN in the next exciting stages of its development as a fledging Community Interest Company, coordinating activities including industry-facing advocacy, events/workshops and education programmes, engaging with a wide variety of communities and stakeholders – all aimed at addressing gender and racial inequality in the audio industries.

Based in Huddersfield, Emma has worked in administration for over 20 years and during the past 6 years has established herself as a self-employed Virtual Assistant, working for a variety of clients. Emma can often be found out and about enjoying live music events and the theatre.

Emma commented: ‘I love my work as it allows me to use my administration, project management and executive assistant skills to provide support to companies and people that share similar values to mine. I’m thrilled to be working with YSWN, and feel that exciting times are ahead. I look forward to getting to know members of the network, supporting them further through the work of YSWN and of course catching some of their events and performances!’

YSWN’s Coordinator post is funded through Kirklees Council’s successful bid to the Leeds City Region Business Rates Pool, part of an ambitious project to make the most of Kirklees’ rich and diverse musical heritage.

The Leeds City Region Business Rates Joint Committee backed 20 projects in all with total funding of £12.9m. The Business Rates Pool enables member authorities to retain and invest the proceeds of growth in business rates. It has supported investments with a value of more than £11m since it was created in 2014.
