Art Talk: Feat. Elisabeth Hadley and Becky Nuttall

Art Talk: Feat. Elisabeth Hadley and Becky Nuttall

Fourth in our series of popular Art Talk’s we’ll be welcoming local artists Elisabeth Hadley and Becky Nuttall to the gallery to deliver two short talks.

Award winning sculptor Elisabeth Hadley will be talking about her work and process producing bronzes, a chance for you to find out a bit more about the level of skill behind her craft and the beautiful pieces she creates.

Becky Nuttall will be delivering a talk on our theme of Portraiture and Identity with discussion of her piece which will be on display in the exhibition. “Portraits are not just faces, sitters and poses. Portraits are objects, settings and themes. In my work I make god in my image, steal the identity of saints, heroes and artists; stand behind them, beside them and in front of them; here I am, wearing their clothes. Using this contraband, I create ‘portraits’ that are a coalescence of allegory and symbols; referencing the nature and implications of theology, religious violence, piety, art, art history, feminism and popular culture - defining and considering how I discovered these in adolescence and how I began to set my gaze upon my identity”
