'Festival of Light' Art and Craft fair

'Festival of Light' Art and Craft fair

Huddersfield Art Gallery will be hosting an art and craft fair on Saturday 29th November, linking in with the Festival of Light celebrations taking place throughout the town centre. The fair will feature the work of Kirklees-based makers and will include ceramic pieces, textiles, prints, paintings and a wide range of other arts and crafts. Visitors will have an opportunity to meet the artists, and buy a piece of unique, hand-made work direct from them – or maybe even commission a one-off, specially designed piece.

In addition to the many artists displaying their work at the fair, the gallery will be running free art workshops from 10am to 3pm. Families are invited to join the drop-in sessions for some free creative fun: with artists Ping Kelly (Chinese lantern crafts), Jane Sedgwick (Cosmic art) & Vic Cruz ('zine making workshop). The sessions are being provided by Artbound, who have been funded by the Arts Council to manage the ‘Huddersfield Hat’ fringe festival.

Artists displaying their work include Gus Wright (work pictured), Frances Noon, Jane Platts, Louise Armitage and Dan Booth. Exhibition catalogues from recent gallery shows will be on sale at specially reduced prices, and visitors can enjoy a sit down and a drink in the gallery's coffee lounge area.

The gallery is situated on the 2nd floor of the library building, and is accessible via stairs or lift.
