When Exeter University student Amani Z Saeed burst onto the South West performance poetry scene, she rapidly established herself as one of our most powerful and impressive spoken word artists. It was immediately clear that she is destined to become a major star in UK performance poetry.

Amani’s performances are electric, passionate and challenging, exploring her experiences as a young Muslim woman in the UK. She tackles major issues head-on and delivers, with typical clarity and honesty, messages that we all need to hear.

It was absolutely no surprise when she deservedly won the 2015 Exeter Poetry Festival Slam with three stunning performances.

Recently, she has been honing her skills with Words First, a partnership between BBC Radio 1Xtra and the Roundhouse, to uncover new spoken word talent across the UK, supported by Arts Council England.
