The Great Get Together

The Great Get Together

The Great Get Together is taking place over the weekend of 16 - 18 June 2017. The Great Get Together is inspired by Jo Cox, who was killed on 16 June last year. The idea behind the event is to organise the biggest neighbourhood celebrations since the Jubilee street parties.

People are invited to get together with their neighbours to share food and celebrate ‘all that we hold in common’. It could be a street party or a shared barbecue, a picnic or a bake off. What matters is that people have fun and communities are brought closer together.

You can organise your own event or join in with some of the ones going on nearby. Some get together’s will be invite only – but others will be bigger and open to the public. We’ve listed below a few open events that we know are taking place in Kirklees, but the Great Get Together website will list events closer to the time or you can register at http://the.greatgettogether.org/page/s/attend-a-get-together to be notified about events taking place near you.

IF YOU ARE PUTTING ON AN EVENT OR GATHERING THAT IS OPEN TO ALL MAKE SURE YOU REGISTER IT AT https://i.nvite.com/communities/thegreatgettogether SO PEOPLE CAN FIND OUT WHAT'S GOING ON IN KIRKLEES.
