Torbay Music Hub website
New website to inspire and support young music makers across the Bay!
• Torbay Music Hub website www.torbaymusichub.co.uk launches Wednesday 1 July during Torbay Festival of Song week
• Free-to-enter online competition with musical prize!
Children and young people interested in singing or playing an instrument can now access information on ways to help them make the music they love. By logging on to www.torbaymusichub.co.uk they can check out everything from after-school music clubs to opportunities to perform, like singing with “Roots Acapella” in a concert at The Princess Theatre in Torquay! There are also tips on hiring or buying musical instruments at reasonable prices, plus a “What’s on” of local music events of particular interest to young people.
When people visit www.torbaymusichub.co.uk they hear a random playlist of local music by young people. Local schools, groups and individual young music makers can upload links to their SoundCloud tracks – so their music could be the first thing people hear when they log on!
There is also a useful area of the website for teachers and other music leaders, with information and advice on training, resources, jobs, local networks, marketing and business development.
Torbay Council’s Music Development Coordinator Annabelle Knowles said “At Torbay Music Hub we’re passionate about young people making music and we want to inspire and enable a musical journey for every young person in Torbay. Our new website makes it easier for children and young people to make find out about what’s on offer across the Bay and create the musical journey that is right for them”.
Paul Wilson of Devon’s folk and community arts organisation Wren Music (a Hub partner organisation) said “It’s really exciting what’s happening with the Torbay Hub. Musicians and singers across the bay are getting to know each other, listen to each other and work together more. This new website is a great place to make new connections and follow your musical bliss!”.
Enter a free online competition!
To celebrate the launch, young people up to age 18 living in Torbay can enter an online music-themed competition and could win a £50 voucher for the Music Room. For details see the front page of www.torbaymusichub.co.uk
