Performance Improvisation workshop

Shifting States: Tools for Performance Improvisation

Weekend Workshop with Andrew Morrish
19 – 21 June 2009, Totnes, Devon

Andrew Morrish has over 20 years experience working as a freelance performer, teacher and researcher and has worked internationally in opera, dance and theatre. He was a member of Al Wunder’s company ‘Theatre of the Ordinary’ and his own improvisation practice was fostered over 12 years working in close contact with collaborator Peter Trotman.

This is Andrew ‘s third workshop in Devon and is suitable for professional dance and theatre practitioners and individually motivated Performing Arts students.
The workshops will centre on finding your individual sensibility as a performer, utilizing word, sound, movement and image, developing skills to generate and shape performance content whilst working between vocal and physical modes.

Central to Andrew’s teaching ethos is spirit of communication and shared pleasure. Participants will be encouraged to become their own editor in performance, using the skills of shifting their point of attention, developing texture and maintaining clarity.
These workshops will build on strengths and interests identified during Andrew’s recent workshop in Devon, introducing new ways of crafting solo and group materials while emphasizing a consistent and committed daily practice.
