Discover the magical combination of text and image! Ever thought about incorporating text into your image-making, or vice versa? This course will show you the basics of letterpress printing in combination with simple monoprint techniques, to create thought-provoking, colourful, graphic imagery which could be used in a variety of different applications – artist books, zines, comics, design or illustration work. This course is a hands-on alternative to Photoshop…come and get inky!

For the letterpress element you will use our collection of
lead typefaces and print on our Adana and Sigwalt tabletop presses, and for the monoprint element you will use our two etching presses.

Brian Hindmarch is a part-time lecturer at Bradford School of Art, and also works as a printmaker, exhibiting primarily etchings and drypoint prints. He has a long association with typographic experimentation, publishing and graphic design.
