‘Museums in Motion’

• BEEE Creative, makeAMPLIFY and eight local community performers invite you to watch their new film installation at Stevenage Museum.
• Open to the public Saturday 9 July to Friday 2 September 2016 at the Stevenage Museum, St Georges Way, Stevenage, Hertfordshire SG1 1XX

Museums in Motion is a brand new dance and heritage inspired film installation that is opening at Stevenage Museum for Summer 2016. The installation has been produced in collaboration with the Home Educators Group who have explore the theme ‘What is inside your mobile phone?’

Young people and families from across Hertfordshire have come together at Royston, Stevenage and Watford Museums to explore the apps, functions and capabilities of the mobile phone and the historical items that were used for the same task in life in history and relation between the two. The young people and families spent three days as dancers, directors and film-makers to create the installation with a team of professional artists from BEEE Creative and makeAMPLIFY.

‘Museums in Motion’ will be launched at the Stevenage Museum on Saturday 9th July with a private viewing for the project participants and their family and friends and will then be open to the public from Saturday 9 July to Friday 2 September 2016. The museum is open to the public Wednesday to Friday 10am - 4.30pm and Saturdays 10am – 5pm. The installation is free to visit and is suitable for people of all ages.

Jo Ward at the Stevenage Museum said, “Working in museums, we know how inspiring our visitors can find the collections we hold and the stories we tell. Museums can make a real difference to people’s lives, from very young ones practicing talking with their families right through to providing company and engagement for the elderly. This project is quirky, fun and just a bit off the wall – perhaps even literally!”
