Murder, Mystery & Suspense at Cockington Court

Murder, Mystery & Suspense at Cockington Court

Murder, Mystery & Suspense at Cockington Court - Sunday 16 September 2012

To celebrate the Agatha Christie Festival, Cockington Court is hosting a day of family fun and games this Sunday 16 September - 11am -4.30pm.

Agatha Christie herself used to play at Cockington Court - being a close family friend of the resident family, the Mallocks - the young Agatha used to take part in theatre productions on the lawn of the historic manor house which now hosts an exciting programme of events for residents and visitors to Torbay.

Visitors to Cockington Court this Sunday are invited to take part in a murder mystery trail: The Head Gardener, Mr Dan D. Lyon, has been found savagely murdered with his body buried under a pile of compost in the Organic Garden. Rumour has it that he was having an affair with one of Cockington’s fair maidens, Teresa Green. The finger of suspicion is pointed at jealous love rivals, Rose Bush and Hazel Nutt, but the evidence proves someone else could be to blame. Can you work out who is guilty of this awful crime?

(The murder mystery trail is available from the Cockington Gallery at the front entrance of the Court at £5.99 per group with a chance to win £1000 in a free prize draw.)

Following the Agatha Christie theme, Cockington Court Kitchen Gallery is currently hosting an exhibition by artist Tracy Satchwill: Victims, Suspects and Murderers – a collection of striking collages depicting the crime writer’s life until 30 September – free admission.

There will also be free arts and crafts for children from 11am – 4pm; face painting, a bouncy castle and croquet on the lawn, as well as a chance for the kids to give mums and dads a good soaking in the stocks!

Plus - a chance to win a murder mystery evening for a group of 10 people at the Manor House with wine and nibbles (Tickets cost £10).
