Rokey the Clown at Cockington Court

Rokey the Clown at Cockington Court

Rokey the Clown will be joining the festivities at Cockington Court on Easter Monday - 21 April - from 11.00am – 4.00pm. Rokey wants to invite people to be part of a special balloon installation using modelling balloons that they make themselves or with help from the staff on hand. The finished balloon models will be hung on a tree outside the Sea Change craft studios.

This very special balloon installation will stay on the tree for as long as the weather permits - it could be some weeks! Everyone can participate in this fun and creative event, and feel a connection with the arts and crafts that take place at Cockington.
Rokey the Clown has been performing and running juggling workshops and Youth Circus in London for over 20 years. Relocating to Torbay in 2011, Rokey formed Circus Torbay, taking the basic circus model and using it as a launch pad and as a resource for a range of exciting community developments. Circus Torbay provides free basic training of circus skills for anyone that wants to get involved - young and old - starting with juggling and clowning.

As well as Rokey’s Balloon Installation on Easter Monday, there are Easter Bunny Hunts running from 11am – 4pm on Sunday 20 April and Monday 21 April; and free family arts and crafts workshops taking place in the resource room at the Sea Change craft studios, where families can make their own Easter cards and Easter bonnets. People can drop in at any time between 11am and 4pm on each day to take part in these free workshops run by Marissa Wakefield and Paula George. Craft materials will be provided free of charge.

There is an Easter bonnet parade at 2.30pm on Monday 21 April and the Cockington Chocolate Company is donating a special chocolate prize for the best bonnet.
Marissa Wakefield, Cockington Court Centre Director, said: “Everyone is welcome at Cockington Court for our Easter events. As well as the 22 craft studios where you can shop for unique crafts and see the makers creative their wares, spring is a great time to enjoy the country park and gardens and take part in Easter craft workshops, then show off your bonnet-making skills in the Easter Parade.”
