ArtsMatrix events announced for 2011/12

ArtsMatrix, a continuing professional development agency realising the potential of the South West’s creative practitioners, has launched an exciting programme of workshops and networking events for all working creatively in the region.
The series of workshops, seminars and networking events will take place throughout the region between September 2011 and April 2012.
Workshops revealed in the new programme include ‘How did they do that?’ in Plymouth on Tuesday 13 September 2011. This half day workshop will see successful artists from across the region offering inspiration, insights and tips on making a success of your creative career. The same event will also be held in Dorset on 11 October 2011 and in North Devon on 8 March 2012, using successful local artists from each area.
For creative practitioners looking to get their work noticed, the ‘Eeeeeasy PR’ workshop will prove to be very useful. It is being run on 1 December 2011 in Exeter by Sassy PR expert Katie Thompson who will demonstrate easy ways to highlight your work to the right people. Those looking to photograph their work more professionally can attend a one day hands on workshop to learn new skills and get tips from commercial photographer Rod Gonzalez at the ‘Picture Perfect‘ workshop on 4 October 2011.
Informal networking is a great way to connect with other creatives in your area and ArtsMatrix is providing training and a toolkit to enable people to facilitate their own networking events in favourite local places.
Experienced practitioners Gill Nicol and Sarah James will be leading half day Peer Critique sessions in Exeter in October, November and January, with a one-off introductory session on 22 September 2011. The Peer Critique sessions will culminate with a pop up exhibition in March 2012.
ArtsMatrix Development Officer Karin Jordan who coordinated the programme for ArtsMatrix said: “We are thrilled to launch this exciting programme of events for creative practitioners at all stages of their careers. In putting together the programme we have responded to the expressed needs of ArtsMatrix members, their creative practice and their business needs”
“We urge everyone with an interest in the arts to log on to the ArtsMatrix website and find out what it’s all about. It’s the perfect place for the public to engage with artists, buy and commission works, and an opportunity for members to showcase their work to a wide audience.”
Members of ArtsMatrix benefit from discounted training and networking, career and business support services, the chance to engage in collaborative projects and access to specialist resources. Membership is tiered so that members can tailor the package to their needs.
