The first in our Masters of Illusion series of seminars and workshops celebrating the diverse practices of animation in its widest sense. Award winnining animator Matt Abiss will run a small Masterclass entitled 'The illusion of drawing 2D animation'

Suitable for all levels of participant. This will be followed by a free talk for the public which must be booked separately.

Matt Abbiss grew up in Hertfordshire, studied Animation at the Edinburgh College of Art (graduated 1999) and the Royal College of Art (2004).
While at the RCA he made three short films, Poor God (2003), Play (2004) and Bus Stop (2004). After graduating he made Invasion (2005) for the UK's Channel 4.
Directed/animated commercials both freelance and with Sherbet.

From 2010-12 Matt lectured full-time at Portsmouth University on the BA animation. He has also taught workshops/mentored students at London College of Communication, Camberwell College of arts, Central St Martin's, The University of Westminster, La poudriere and the Royal College of Art.

Matt has always had a keen interest in comics and has produced a number of self-published books. In 2002 he contributed to the co-ordination of anthology title Sentence. In 2011 he collaborated with writer Tanya Meditzky to make "The Man Who Clapped".

He is currently freelancing in London.
