Access & Inclusion Disability Training: Festivals & Music Venues

Access & Inclusion Disability Training: Festivals & Music Venues

A suite of free in person and online training courses are being offered by Holmfirth Arts Festival for staff and volunteers of Kirklees Festivals and Music Venues thanks to funding from Holme Valley Parish Council and Kirklees Council. Courses include: Emergency First Aid, Safeguarding, Access and Inclusion - Disability, Access and Inclusion - Gender and Stewarding.

This course is delivered in person and is all about disability awareness and equality training

A 3 hour in person training raining sessions for anyone who works with, or anticipates working with people with learning disabilities (Self-Advocates). The training is co-delivered alongside Self-Advocates who will bring their experience of accessibility issues. The aim is not simply to provide ‘tick box’ training, but for learners to gain a real insight into some of the challenges faced by Self-Advocates and how they can be minimised. Learners will get first-hand experience of understanding different communication styles.

Looking at the social history of disability as well as current equality agendas, learners will explore stereotypes, language and terminology, barriers to communication.
