Adele Jackson heads to Antarctica

Our colleague, Adele Jackson (Creative Communities Officer) is swapping the warmth of our office for 5 months on a tiny island in the Antarctic Peninsula. With just three other people and thousands of penguins for company, Adele and her colleagues will be sorting post at the UK’s most remote post office at Port Lockroy on Goudier Island.

Adele, who has visited previously as an expedition photographer, will be part of team of three women and one man who are responsible for posting thousands of cards to 100 countries from 18,000 visitors on board expedition and cruise ships.

Their roles also include the care and maintenance of the museum and buildings, as well as monitoring any impact on wildlife, through surveys of the resident gentoo penguin colony.

You can keep in touch with Adele’s trip at the Port Lockroy blog below.

Adele will be back in her job at the end of March 2016. In the meantime, Louise Mor will be covering her post (more about Louise later…).
