Kirklees Tour de Yorkshire 2020 Community Grant

Kirklees Tour de Yorkshire 2020 Community Grant

To help everyone celebrate the 2020 Tour de Yorkshire coming to Kirklees on Saturday 2 May and to encourage local communities to get involved in the event, Kirklees Council has established a new small grant fund.

Community and voluntary groups, Town and Parish Councils, schools and businesses can all apply for funding, of up to £500, to deliver activities and events to support the Tour de Yorkshire in their local area.

The Council is particularly keen to encourage applications that will deliver creative and innovative ideas, events and activities that will really help to bring our communities together along the route.

The 2020 Tour de Yorkshire route will pass through Holmfirth and Netherthong on the way to Marsden and Slaithwaite. After leaving Kirklees, beyond Scapegoat Hill, the route returns via Ainley Top later that day, passing through Birkby for the sprint to the finish line at St George’s Square in Huddersfield town centre. This will be the final finish line of the women’s race and the stage 3 finish of the men’s race. The full route for Saturday 2 May can be viewed here: https://letour.yorkshire.com/tour-de-yorkshire-2020/mens-race/stage-3/map

Further information about the fund and the online application form will be available on the Kirklees Council Tour de Yorkshire website from Tuesday 18 February, visit: www.kirklees.gov.uk/tourdeyorkshire.

Interested applicants can also email the Kirklees Tour de Yorkshire team with any questions about their ideas at tdygrants@kirklees.gov.uk or visit one of the Kirklees Tour de Yorkshire Roadshow events that will take place on Tuesday 25 February at Holmfirth Civic Hall at 7pm, and on Tuesday 3 March at Huddersfield Town Hall at 5.30pm.

Applications will close on Monday 16 March with a decision communicated to all applicants on Friday 27 March.
