Arts & culture continues to make a big contribution

Arts & culture continues to make a big contribution

Arts Council England have just published a new report - Contribution of the arts and culture sector to the national economy. Written by CEBR (Centre for Economic and Business Research), the report provides new evidence that the arts and culture sector makes a strong, tangible contribution to the national economy.

The report was launched on Monday 13 July in conjunction with the Creative Industries Federation who have published their own report: Arts and Growth; How public investment in the arts contributes to growth in the creative industries. Together, these reports add momentum to the argument that the arts and culture sector means business: its contribution to the national economy and to the creative industries is considerable.

An Early Day Motion has been tabled in Parliament, to recognise the findings of the new reports, and 'asks the Government to bring forward policies which recognise the important role public investment in arts and culture plays in supporting this vital industry'. If you agree with this ask your local MP to sign the motion. Here's how:

- check who your MP is if you don't know (you can do this here)
- send them this link to the Early Day Motion 289:http://www.parliament.uk/edm/2015-16/289
