Dance Partner Projects: Children & Young People, Yorkshire Dance

Dance Partner Projects: Children & Young People, Yorkshire Dance

CALL OUT: Dance Partner Projects - Children and Young People , Yorkshire Dance

Yorkshire Dance are looking for dance artists/ companies who would like to research & explore ideas in relation to one of Yorkshire Dance’s core interests in working with and creating work for children & young people. They are interested in proposals that might, for example, explore agency, connection, play, imagination and empowerment (not exclusively). You might want to utilise opportunities to connect and test work-in-development with young people, for example with some of Yorkshire Dance’s local partnerships in early years, school settings or similar.

There might be further opportunity to connect with a showcase of work for children and young people in Autumn 2023.

About Dance Partner Projects

Dance Partner Projects give dance artists/ companies the opportunity to research and develop new or early stage artistic project ideas with tailored support by our Artist Development Producer, Tanya Steinhauser. This new round of Dance Partner Projects April 2022-March 2023 closely aligns with Yorkshire Dance’s strands of programmes and external partnership opportunities.

Yorkshire Dance wants to invest in an exciting, diverse ecology of artists at various stages of their careers. We’re passionate about supporting dance artists who ask questions of themselves, their work and of the world. We want to support artists researching those questions and find opportunities for local people to get involved in that process. We help artists to develop the right contexts for their work, be that a small scale black box theatre, outdoor festivals, nature, libraries, schools, town centres, parks, rural touring or care homes.

The opportunity is open to dance artists/ companies living and creating work in Yorkshire/ the North and offers:

Research time in the studio at Yorkshire Dance (up to 3 weeks).
£2,000 cash to be used as seed funding or as a research residency.
Support by Yorkshire Dance’s Artist Development Producer e.g. project development, producing, fundraising & dramaturgy support.
