Exporting is GREAT awards £200,000 funding to UK music
The Department for International Trade and British Phonographic Industry (BPI) has awarded £213,310 to 15 musical acts from the UK to aid their international ambitions.
More than 150 acts to date have benefitted from £2.2 million in funds from the Music Exports Growth Scheme (MEGS) – launched in 2014 and relaunched in October 2016 making additional funding available until 2020.
Delivered through the Exporting is GREAT campaign, with funds provided by government and managed by BPI, this has helped a set of artists across diverse genres from grime MCs Ghetts and Afrikan Boy, Mercury Prize-winning hip-hop outfit Young Fathers, and BRIT Award-winners Catfish and the Bottlemen, to this year's recipients including pop punk band Boston Manor, country-songwriter Ags Connolly, solo folk by Roddy Woomble (frontman of indie-rockers Idlewild), Scottish rock trio The Xcerts, and electro-dubstep influenced duo Mount Kimbie.
