Freelance Coordinator - Bronte Festival of Women's Writing

The Brontë Society is seeking to appoint a freelance events professional to deliver its 10th Brontë Festival of Women’s Writing, Friday 30 July – Sunday 1 August 2021.

The festival comprises readings, panel discussions, masterclasses and workshops and, as well as readers and Brontë enthusiasts, attracts writers at different stages of their careers.

The 2021 festival is an online event with an expanded programme and digital legacy. A draft programme is in place and they are looking for a freelancer to work alongside internal staff to deliver and evaluate it.

Roles and responsibilities will include:

Finalising the schedule of events, programme copy and ticketing information
Issuing any outstanding letters of agreement, contracts etc to all participating artists
Leading on the staffing and logistical delivery of the festival, including the technical / digital elements
Working with their Head of Communications to promote the programme
Budget tracking and monitoring of ticket sales
Accurate and efficient processing of purchase orders, invoices
Evaluation and assessment for internal use as well as for report to funders

Essential experience

Significant experience delivering events and activities within the cultural or heritage sector, particularly via digital platforms

Skills, knowledge and abilities

Excellent project management skills with an organised and disciplined approach to targets and timescales
Strong communication skills, including presentation and public speaking, and report writing
Ability to think and act creatively, championing and promoting new ideas and solutions
Self-motivated with a flexible approach to team-working
Excellent budget management skills

Contract:
£200 per day for approx 15-20 days between early June and mid August. The appointed candidate will be responsible for their own tax and National Insurance and need to have self-employed professional indemnity insurance in place.

As the festival will be primarily a digital event, it is expected that the successful candidate will work from home for the majority of the contract.
