Kirklees Council agrees budget cuts, including to arts & events

Last week Councillors at Kirklees Council agreed huge budget cuts that will lead to 1,000 job losses & cuts to Kirklees Music school, funding for arts organisations & events.

Amongst the many budget decisions made are cuts in funding to events such as Huddersfield’s Festival of Light and Spirit in Dewsbury. Funding will also be reduced to the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield and further cuts will be made over the next 3 years to other arts events.
