Lead Artist Opportunity, Rotherham Central Library

Rotherham Open Arts Renaissance (ROAR) are looking for a lead artist to engage with a small number of young people aged between 12-24 years, in creative and disruptive activities using books and literature as the inspiration, at the Central Library space in Riverside House, Rotherham.

The project will also work with library staff to demonstrate and encourage risk taking and to use libraries as creative and cultural spaces offering activities that are unexpected and surprising, as a tool for further engagement.

The resulting 'artwork' work will have been co-created with the young people participating. It is anticipated there will be a core group of regular attendees but the project also need to accommodate young people who may drop in only once. It is expected to be able to generate an exhibition, possibly at multiple venues, so the resulting work can be one large thing, lots of smaller things or a large component work that can be separated. There will also be some digital distribution of images.

The majority of the delivery will be during the October half term: 27th October - 3rd November, the remainder of the sessions are negotiable but will need to take place on Saturdays or after school until 6.30 on Mondays and Thursdays.

There will be a celebratory event at the end of the project.
