Living History interpreter, National Coal Mining Museum

This is a casual position - delivering to schools in term time and visitors in school holidays
Provide educational performances and workshops

Work in collaboration with Learning Team to give schools, other educational establishments, and visitors hands-on, participative learning experience.

Within the context of coal mining, act out historically based characters and situations, ensuring historical accuracy in interpretation where practicable.

Ensure that there are opportunities provided for people of all ages and abilities to take part in the performances.

Deliver family orientated performances and workshops on events days, school holidays and at weekends.

Incorporate museum artefacts to aid performances.

Participate in the evaluation and revision of educational sessions where appropriate.
Developing content for performances

Work as part of the Learning Team in the Curatorial Department and in collaboration with the Museum’s Marketing Department.

Attend shows and corporate events as a working ambassador of the Museum.

Contribute to team and departmental meetings where appropriate.
