2023 will be a transformational year like no other. 12 signature events and a multitude of creative experiences are happening all over our city. From dance to design, art to architecture, poetry to pop, sculpture to sport, grassroots community theatre to performances on our world-class stages, there’s something for everyone, no matter where you live or what you like.

Purpose of the role:

• Oversee the creative production management of the ambitious project, covering multiple artistic disciplines, working with the creative directors and designers.
• Produce and deliver the operational plans for the opening event, including working with project partners, suppliers and LEEDS 2023 staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Production and Operational Management.
• Work with the opening event Creative team to ensure the artistic vision of the event is realised, including overseeing the production and procurement of, set pieces, props, special effects, technical services amongst other areas.
• Oversee the operational delivery of the opening event, through working with partners and bringing on dedicated teams or suppliers to cover Security and Stewarding, First Aid, Waste Management and Traffic Management amongst other areas.
• Work with the Senior Producer to ensure all statutory and legal requirements for the opening event are met, including, where relevant, health and safety, accessibility, licensing and planning permissions.
• Produce, share and update technical plans and documents with the creative and production teams.
• Convene and chair regular production meetings.
• Communicate with external stakeholders, attend meetings and participate in joint agency and safety advisory group meetings.
• Appoint, instruct and supervise contractors, suppliers and freelancers for the opening event as required, working within the LEEDS 2023 procurement framework.
• Manage the production and operations budget as delegated, providing regular reports to the Director of Production and Senior Producer
• Schedule and run the build, fit-up, event and de-rig for the opening event, delegating to members of the opening event production and operations team as required.
