Programme Director - Bradford

THE LEAP Creative People and Places Programme for Bradford are looking for a Programme Director.

Tenure: 4-year contract to October 2023. Possible extension dependent upon future funding
Salary: £40-45,000pa

THE LEAP is the new Creative People and Places programme for Bradford. We are now seeking a Programme Director to shape our business plan, to lead the delivery of our work and to make a real difference for Bradfordians across the next four years.

Born in Bradford, the landmark project at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust which is tracking the health and wellbeing of more than 13,500 children from before birth to adulthood, has won £2m of new investment from Arts Council England’s Creative People and Places programme to inspire people in Bradford and Keighley to get creative and get involved in culture in their local area. The full programme will be c.£3.5m, with over £1m of match funding already in place.

Bradford is the UK’s 6th largest city, the youngest city in Europe (29% of its population under 20 and nearly a quarter under 16) and one of the most diverse in the UK. These are exciting times to work in Bradford. Alongside the award of £2m of Creative People and Places funding the city has recently won major funds to develop Bradford Live, a new music venue being created in a vast former Odeon cinema in the heart of the city and has just been awarded one of the two national pilots as Arts Council England Producing Hub. The Bradford Cultural Place Partnership, supported by Bradford City Council, has taken the decision to bid for UK City of Culture in 2025.

The ideal candidate will be an exceptional creative leader and an enabler of others, with the ability to provide strong, ambitious and imaginative leadership needed to deliver THE LEAP. You will have experience in developing and managing teams, setting strategy, managing budgets and the ability to implement an artistic vision in true collaboration and partnership with multiple stakeholders. You will have the ability to both lead strategy and address the detail in a small team focused on delivery. You will believe passionately in the value of art and culture in people’s lives and want to make a difference.

We are willing to consider applications from individuals; secondment proposals or team / job share proposals. We actively encourage people from a variety of backgrounds with different experiences, skills and stories to apply for this opportunity. We are particularly keen to hear from people of colour and from candidates who self-identify as disabled. All applicants who self-identify as disabled and who demonstrate that they meet the essential criteria will be invited for interview.
