Community Engagement Officer, South Gloucestershire Council

The £1.7m Winterbourne Medieval Barn (WMB) Project will conserve, redevelop and find new uses for the Grade II* Listed 14th century Barn and outbuildings, ensuring long-term sustainability for this nationally-significant heritage asset by placing it at the heart of the local community. The project has received a grant of £936,600 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) towards its delivery costs, which includes a comprehensive programme of activities. The Barn is owned by South Gloucestershire Council and operated by the Winterbourne Medieval Barn Trust (WMBT). This role is responsible for delivering the project's Activity Plan.

This role will lead community engagement for the project and be responsible for delivering the Activity Plan to meet the Approved Purposes of the HLF grant, working in close collaboration with other members of the Project Team, WMBT trustees and volunteers. In brief, the Activity Plan will:• Deliver 193 heritage and rural-craft themed events and activities over the three-year project delivery period for people of all ages, to include a new schools’ programme, a greatly-extended programme of family and community events and activities, new workshops, new guided tours, a new lecture series, additional musical and theatrical performances.• Extend opportunities for existing volunteers, including delivery of a soft landscaping scheme to the grounds of the Barn by the Garden Group.• Offer at least 60 new volunteering opportunities, including as learning and participation volunteers, tour guides, fundraisers and publicity volunteers.
