Share Maker (Workshop), Theatre Royal Plymouth

Share Maker (Workshop), Theatre Royal Plymouth

TR2 Production and Learning Centre is the Theatre Royal Plymouth’s purpose built workshop facility based in Cattedown, Plymouth. Since opening in 2003, TR2 has provided state of the art workshop facilities for the creation of scenery, props and costumes for a global theatre industry.

TR2’s extensive engineering, timber fabrication and assembly facilities can support the simultaneous construction of two full-scale productions. The workshop and construction makers are pivotal to this activity taking design concepts through to technical solutions.

The post holder will work as part of the workshop team in the realisation and production of theatre scenery. They will be versed in both carpentry and steel fabrication and will be able to work from detailed technical drawings as well as using their own construction experience to work directly from models and concept sketches.

As we continue to diversify beyond theatre scenery, exciting opportunities to work in exhibition and site-specific art installations are developing, requiring an enthused attitude to constructing work of a non-theatre nature.

The role will involve extensive collaboration with other workshop staff, draughtspersons and managers. They will also need to be confident fitting up sets in other parts of the country and have a flexible, pro-active approach to working hours and overtime.

Interviews will take place on 9th& 10th July and a tour of the workshop will also be included.

Please visit our TRP Careers page for more details and to apply for the role.
