Freelance Project Manager- Future Talent

Freelance Project Manager- Future Talent

BRIEF
Freelance Project Manager- Future Talent
Part-time (approx. 1.5 days per week), 4 month contract

Creative Scene are looking for a freelance project manager to work on some of the pilot projects based within the Future Talent strand of our programme. Future Talent will provide high quality arts opportunities to young people aged 14-25 living in North Kirklees. This strand will give future creative practitioners, artists ( all art forms) and cultural leaders, the experience of interacting with high quality professional artists, developing their skills and raising aspirations for themselves and their communities.

Creative Scene is the Arts Council England’ Creative People and Places Project for North Kirklees - West Yorkshire, supported by a consortium including The Lawrence Batley Theatre, Kirklees Council, and the Batley Festival. Creative Scene wants more people in the towns of Batley, Birkenshaw, Birstall, Cleakheaton, Dewsbury, Gomersal, Liversedge, and all the places in between to create, and be part of, inspiring high quality arts experiences.

Our vision
Creative Scene aims to grow the arts in the lives, minds and hearts of the people of North Kirklees.
The programme will achieve this by providing amazing, inspiring opportunities for people to see, hear and take part in the arts. This involves much more than just increasing arts activity – it is about creating a lasting change in how the arts are perceived and experienced.
The arts will become embedded in the place and in the people of North Kirklees – resulting in a thriving independent arts scene.

Role and Key Tasks
The Project Manager will work with one of the creative producers to manage specific projects within this strand of work. This will include but is not limited to:
• Identifying groups (schools, community groups, after school clubs) to take part in planned activity.
• Working with partner organisations and contracted artists to schedule the activity including (when appropriate): finding venues, organising travel and ensuring proper safeguarding and risk assessment information is in place.
• Collecting valuable information from participants including contact details, parental permissions and health information.
• Facilitating evaluation with groups; collecting valuable feedback, as well as data from participants and using this to inform future activity.
• Mapping across the area to identify potential groups to engage with for future activity and “cold spots” where opportunities should be introduced.

A detailed plan of tasks, outputs, intended outcomes and key dates for delivery will be worked up with the Creative Producer.

Person Specification
The successful candidate should have:
• Experience in working in an administrative and facilitative role within this sector such as work in schools, after school clubs or participatory arts.

• The ability to work as part of a larger team, as well as with artists and groups.
• A current DBS/CRB check or the desire to get one.
• Be registered self-employed or the desire to become.

Nature of Work:

• This to be equivalent of 1.5, 8 hour days per week over 16 weeks.
