King Athelstan and the Making of England

King Athelstan and the Making of England

Saturday 4 May | 2.30pm-3.30pm | Doncaster Mansion House | £8

Historian and broadcaster Michael Wood explores the Anglo-Saxon roots of the English state through three generations of the Wessex royal family - Alfred the Great, his son Edward and daughter Aethelflaed, and his grandson Athelstan, the first king of all England.
Discover the significant role the three generations of rulers played in English history, and find out more about the dramatic ‘Great War’ of 937 and the Battle of Brunanburh, exploring new evidence that the lost battle site may lie close to Doncaster.

Tickets £8 from Doncaster Local Studies 01302 734307 or central.localhistory@doncaster.gov.uk
